
Carrie Anne Sandoval
Executive Director
Carrie Anne Sandoval came to Alma Community Care in 2017 with 12 years of combined experience as a mechanical engineer and project manager. She is passionate about serving the families of Greater Logan Heights in their fight for mental health and finding ways to work with others to do so. She is the mother of Magnolia Mae, wife to Pastor Chris Sandoval, and resident of the neighborhood she loves and serves each day.

Rev. Christopher A. Sandoval
President
Rev. Christopher A. Sandoval is the pastor of Servant Church of San Diego in Logan Heights and has served inner city communities for over 20 years. He received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Master of Divinity from Westminster Seminary California. Rev. Sandoval loves serving the Logan Heights community and is happy to call it home, too.

Kathleen Lennard
Board Member
Kathleen Lennard, Ed.D. is the President of Good Work Partnership, a team of consultants that provides services in strategic planning and program evaluation for nonprofit organizations. She is an active volunteer in the community and also serves on the board of the San Diego Women’s Foundation.

Mark Maliepaard
Secretary
Mark Maliepaard has been a resident of San Diego since 1980, 17 of those years in East Village. He is a retired Pastor, but also worked in outside sales for 20 years. He has been married for 50 years with 4 children and 9 grandchildren. Three of his children and their families reside in the San Diego area.

With a sincere heart of service as demonstrated by my Savior Jesus Christ, I’ve committed to serving communities I live in and now volunteer on the board for Alma Community Care.
I enjoy establishing and nurturing relationships where my service brings joy to those I serve. Communities that I belonged to and served include Harbor City Church as a Life Group leader and worship team member, volunteer with Hope for San Diego, Restoration 225, Habitat for Humanity, Niles Mobile Home Community, and board member for Village Walk Condominium community.

Mike LaNier
Treasurer
Mike LaNier, is the owner of Online Bookkeeping Solutions which has provided accounting and tax services to small businesses and nonprofits since 1981in San Diego and Riverside Counties.
He has a master’s in accounting and previously taught accounting at the University of Phoenix for 7 years. He has been on the board of Alma Community Care since its inception seven years ago.
He also served as Treasurer of the Emilio Nares Foundation for 4 years. He is also a founder of Challenge Hike – a 28-mile hike in one day, a fundraising event benefiting the Emilio Nares Foundation.

Steve Bowlin
Board Member
Born and raised in San Diego, Steve Bowlin holds a Master’s Degree in Chemistry from San Diego State University and has 2 decades of experience in the drug discovery field, currently working at Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson and Johnson.
In addition to drug discovery, Steve is very passionate about uplifting underserved communities such as the families of Greater Logan Heights, and spent 2 years volunteering with Alma Community Care before joining Alma’s Board of Directors in 2021.
Steve is also actively involved in community service in the areas of youth education, homeless outreach, and working with special needs populations.
