Esperanza, which means hope in Spanish, provides full scholarships to four to five community parents to receive professional individual and group therapy. Therapy sessions are led by a licensed, Christian, and bilingual therapist and are designed to give each mother personalized help and support to care for herself and her family through a gospel lens.

Each parent receives 4-6 individual therapy sessions as well as  6-8 group therapy sessions either online or in person depending on the availability of the parent.

Our first offering of the Esperanza program in 2020 was a tremendous blessing to the five participating mothers and their families. One of those mothers had this to say about the program,

I am so thankful for Alma Community Care. Earlier this year, death threats from our teenage daughter’s gang-member ex-boyfriend drove me to bouts of depression, anxiety, panic attacks, and sleepless nights – all of which worsened my ongoing struggle with Lupus. It is very difficult for me to find help without health insurance, but thanks to Alma’s Esperanza program, now I can process my trauma with a therapist. I can get out of bed in the mornings, and I can confidently go outside my home. May God bless you for all that you’ve done for my family and me – you are a blessing to us all!

We are looking to expand the program by launching 2-3 new groups in 2021.
